The Greenland Crossing 1996
Einar’s first crossing of the Greenland glacier was in 1996. With him in the expedition, which he lead, were Sabine Du Bourmont and Franco Copetti. Mountain view slowly disappearing
Yesterday (April 25th) the Expedition moved 16 km (10 miles) on the glacier. The day started with sunny skies but around noon it started to snow. Suddenly four Snow Bunting flew by but disappeared quickly into the snowy landscape. They still had mountain view to the south but the mountains in the east have now disappeared. They were 5.5 hours
The Expedition has a good start
A helicopter took them from Tasiilaq on Saturday to the Hahn Glacier where they arranged their luggage before heading off. The weather was great – bright sunny skies. They skied 3.6 km in 1.5 hours.
