Welcome to Arctic Hiking and Expeditions. We offer adventure tours in East Greenland, focused on hiking and skiing. Our mission is to provide unforgettable outdoor experiences, enabling people to explore the nature of East Greenland.
Founded in 2021 by life-long friends, Einar Torfi Finnsson and Kristinn Garðarsson, Arctic Hiking and Expeditions was born from a passion for outdoor adventures and arctic nature.
It was the vastness that drew Einar to start operating tours in Greenland in 1996, through his former company Icelandic Mountain Guides (IMG). Einar then left IMG in 2020 which led to Einar and Kristinn coming together, wishing to continue sharing the wonders of arctic nature.
Why Greenland?
Greenland‘s nature is spectacular and remote. The landscapes are vast, like endless alps completely empty of people. There are few places in the world with such unspoiled nature and so few people and that feeling of peace and vastness is what we hope to bring to our customers.
Greenland and it’s nature have a special place in our hearts and so it is important to us to ensure that our tours respect and preserve the natural environments we explore. We put a big emphasise on leaving no trace behind us, taking good care of the nature we hold so dearly.
In East Greenland, the local communities are sparsely populated and live closer to traditional inuit lifestyles than in other regions. We collaborate closely with the locals, who are our primary partners in operating our tours, especially when it comes to transport and culture. They are the ones who know the lands, the weather, and the wilderness better than anyone else, and preserve the culture and history of their nation.
Our guides
At Arctic Hiking and Expeditions, all our guides are well-experienced adventurers with extensive knowledge of Greenlandic lands and nation. Each guide has years of experience in hiking, trekking, and skiing in Arctic conditions, ensuring your safety and enjoyment. We care deeply about the places we visit and hold immense respect for the region’s pristine nature and cultural heritage.
All our tours are operated in small groups of 5-12 passengers, emphasizing personal connection and good company. We pride ourselves on creating memorable adventures for our customers!
With up to 30 years of experience in guiding and designing tours, our team is dedicated to providing safe, adventurous and eco-socially aware tours.
