Arctic Villages accommodation

Kulusuk village East Greenland

In Kulusuk, where the tour starts, two nights are spent in our own private house. Our house in is a typical Greenlandic house originally built for one family. The downstairs is made up of an entrance, dry toilet (bucket toilet), kitchen, and living/dining room. The upstairs is a dormitory with mattresses on the floor. It does not have running water, but it has central heating and electricity.

To have a shower one must walk 200m to the Service house of the village where showers are available for a small fee (50 DKK per person). The Service house is open from 8:00 in the morning to 15:00 (3 pm) in the afternoon on weekdays.

In Kuummiit, our next stop, the accommodation is in a family-style house with mattresses on the floor. There’s a well equipped kitchen in the house, and a dry toilet. Depending on group size there’s also accommodation in an adjacent dormitory-style house with a small kitchen and a dry toilet. In Kuummiit is a service house with showers. There’s a 300m walk to the service house and it is open on weekdays from 8:00 in the morning to 15:00 (3pm) in the afternoon. The cost for a shower is 50 DKK.

Tiniteqilaaq has a dormitory-style three-bedroom house with mattresses on the floor, plus a large living room and kitchen. The house has a dry toilet. In Tiniteqilaaq there’s also a service house with showers about 200 m away that is open on weekdays from 8:00 in the morning to 15:00 (3 pm) in the afternoon. The cost for a shower is 50 DKK.

In Tasiilaq we stay at a Guesthouse in twin rooms with made up beds. The Guesthouse has a kitchen, and a living room, with two showers and a WC.
